Isabelle Arvers: Anaïs Berck stands for a collaboration between humans, algorithms and trees. As a collective, they open a space where human intelligence is explored in company with plant intelligence and artificial intelligence.

Livia Diniz and Isabelle Arvers proposal for Anaïs Berck Residency:
To continue, dive deeper, to refresh, revisit and remix long term research and initiatives.
To develop new tools and methodologies, share experiences, collaborate on the invention of unknown practices, make new connections, and imagine strategies to scale and sustain our ideas and actions throughout time.
This call clearly resonates with the entities and paths both of us have chosen. We research, create and promote playful learning experiments. Recently, we’ve started designing possible crossings of our learnings and experiences related to playfulness, trees and machines. We test and create tools to be applied on methodologies flexible enough to fit into our multi-shaped initiatives and also to share, so they can be reinterpreted and remixed by a wide diversity of communities.
We have been rehearsing a few thoughts regarding the themes and questions proposed. By combining extracts from articles we have written, we drafted possible connections between our ongoing initiatives and Anais Berk’s call.
These articles (Oneirocracy, Pandemic and Cyborg Dreams and Decolonizing the imaginary through the tactical use of machinimas) have been published and presented at ISEA 2022, where we experimented and cocreated with Open A.I, GPT-3 and AI Tunes a human/non-human radio drama, a speculative narrative of a dialogue between a tree and a machine at “Radio Play : Live Participatory Worldbuilding”, a day-long workshop given by Patrick Coleman, Jinku Kim, Ash Eliza Smith, Robert Twomey and Radio EE: Agustina Woodgate, Hernan Woodgate and Stephanie Sherman.
